I also had a lame reasons for cheering for USC. Back in I think 1969 or it could have been 70 or 71 (I was going into jr high). Texas and my beloved Penn State tied for # 1 so, the NCAA knowing Nixon was a football fan asked him to make the choice, he chose Texas because he thought he needed their votes more than PA. I campainged for McGovern in 72 (I was 13) and have never looked back. Who knows if Nixon had chosen Penn State I may have become a Republican.

Yes I knew that and I am not sure why I started that way. I guess after more than a week of bowel games (major and minor)and staying up late to watch them and having get out of bed @5:30 I was a bit confused. I don't know but that's my story and I am sticking with it.
