I've got my ear to the sea waiting for Teddy "The Whale" Kennedy to be singing a new song...

Don't get smug yet. I don't think that this case is a good example of how Alito will rule on cases involving personal freedoms, civil rights, etc.

Those of us who opposed Alito did so based upon his record. Alito was fairly consistent in deciding in favor of corporate and government power over the rights of individuals.

Should a case involving privacy (i.e., Lawrence vs. Texas) come before Alito, we will have a better idea of how he views his new role as a Supreme Court justice. My expectation is that he will actively roll back civil rights protections for gays and lesbians. Why else would the moonbat-crazy Rapture Right line up solidly behind him?

In the long run, I believe that my objections to Alito will be justified. Should Alito make a break with his past and become a truly responsible, impartial and unbiased justice I will be among the first to change my view of him. That said, I am not holding my breath for such a miracle to take place.

Can't you imagine just how pissed off the moonbats will be if he did, though?

Jonathon: FYI, "moonbats" are liberals; "wing-nuts" are conservatives. :-)
