I saw another interview on ABC yesterday where Laura Bush when asked if she was a feminist looked suprised at the question and answered without hesitation something like 'yes, ofcourse, absolutely,' which I thought was interesting given that that seems to be a dirty word to some on the right.

Maureen Reagan, whose politics were to the left of her father's and a self-professed feminist, often came to the defense of her step-mother Nancy. Feminism, she said, had one goal: to empower women with choices. Because it was Nancy's choice to leave her own acting career to support her husband's career in politics didn't make her less of a woman. You can embrace feminism without embracing the leftist agenda with which it is most closely associated.

Feminists should support gun rights for women to deter and to defend against potential rapists and other assaulters.

Larry Darby -- the racist Holocaust denier -- is hardly a Democrat. Turns out, doing some research, he ran for AG in 2002 as a LIBERTARIAN! He even went so far as to criticize Alabama politicians "who switch from Democrat to Republican and back for political gain."
I'm willing to bet that further research would show that the Libertarian Party lost major party status since 2002, and rather than collect 40,000 signatures, Darby just registerred as a Democrat. (Since he's the former director of the Alabama chapter of American Atheists, the Alabama GOP probably wouldn't be a good home for the tool.
