SPECIAL NOTE to "Access Atlanta/AJC.com" readers: Thank you for visiting this site. A little controvery erupted among some of the readers of the site that brought you here about this being a "gay" blog, so I applaud you for choosing quality video over homophobia.
Chris Daughtry and others on "American Idol" seemed genuinely shocked by the rocker's early ejection from the competition.
Umm, ever heard of the Internet, Chris?
His reaction was a multi-tiered masterpiece, evincing his barely concealed disgust at the unparalleled boobery of the Idol-watching public.
Paula was disconsolate, while Simon watched dollar signs fly right out of the Kodak Theater.
The stills below capture the range of emotion, but what was most priceless was watching Daughtry's face dissolve in a nanosecond from frivolity and smugness to naked rage.

I like them all, but having Taylor do an encore????What was that all about? Unfair to the other three. Shame on Idol for doing that.

When the roomie and I were watching AI Tuesday, after Chris atrocious performance of A Little Less Conversation, I called it that Chris would leave. That was one of the worst things I'd seen on AIdol in years. Even Katherine's big screw up in her first song couldn't stop that - and as for her second song...that was Ricky Minor's fault for using such a BAD arrangement. No one, not even Whitney in her prime coulda made that arrangement work. Yuck.
And viewer can recognize these things. The public has been watching AI long enough to pick up on what's good and what's not. Katherine sang her second song as it was arranged - not her fault that it sucked.
As for Eliot and Taylor...well, America must be in the mood for ugly music stars. Notice that all of the men who've done well to the end of Idol are for the most part unattractive. Cause guys won't vote for attractive men and the girls vote for too many odd reasons.
If Taylor wins I won't watch AI ever again. He is a good wedding singer. Beyond that, forget it. I wouldn't pay half price for an iTunes anything for him.

what the heck ?!? did this site get linked to from some teeny-bopper site ? i mean, like, WHAT THE HECK.

seriously, you seem to have tapped into a rather shallow pool of hits, guys.
Shaunna wins best gay moment of this comment section , hands down.
Chris being voted off is a shame. I don't get the McPheever thing at all. an elliott win would be the only redeeming thing that can happen, but it is unlikely.
we'll see more of Chris, don't worry.
Chad, be careful, they speak French up there.

And for the people who are writing about the gayest moments you people really suck yourselves to slander someone like that.
Oh, honey, please. If I could suck myself I'd never leave the house. ;)
Hey, she had it comin.

Man, there are some mean people on this site. It must be so hard being up on that stage in front of millions. Kudos to all of them.
I'm a huge Taylor fan. I saw him play 9 years ago and as recently as last fall in Auburn, AL. If you could see his band you would all think differently of him. They are really good! They play everything from Allman Bro's to Ray Charles to Widespread Panic AND originals. It's different when you're on the show and they pick what you have to sing. And they are constantly telling them that it's never good enough. Talk about pressure!
My brother went to the show the other week as a guest of Taylor's and he said that Taylor is just as laid back as usual. He's having a great time. Just FYI.

What a waste of everything that is needed here in the USA. He was a man who married a woman with 2 kids. Where the hell do you fine any guy like that? A great step dad, son, brother, entertainer. He is #1 in my book for eveything. I did not care about his clothes, body so on it was the voice and the man behind it that made him an American Idol in my eyes. Keep rockin Chris, I turned off AI for good. There is no more show in all of our eyes.

Nancy: All are welcome here. Take care of yourself ...
And Kenneth is a great blogger!

You people who think Chris should win do not understand Rock music at all. No rock fan would take a dude from american idol seriously no matter what kind of shades he wears. Its better for his career that he got the boot, more street cred. Kat should win because shes marketable. Imagine all the makeup, hair and fashion products she can sell. You guys gotta think of it in the capitalist sense, thats why its called AMERICAN idol. Elliot would do well on Broadway, and Taylor should be a vegas entertainer so he can just stay there.

But M, I thought it was a "singing competition?"
Posted by: Jamie | May 11, 2006 at 01:53 PM
One thing to remember: Other than Kelly Clarkston, not one winner has gone on to do much of anything (unless you count John Paulus.) Idol isn't quite living up to it's promise of fame for the winners.

what, you think you can sing better than katherine? Kelly clarkson succeeded cuz she's pop and can sing. Chris sings with his throat. give him a while and he'll bust his windpipe
Posted by: M | May 11, 2006 at 02:08 PM
I can sing with my ASS better than Katherine can with her throat.
And frankly, Chris's vibrato is a bit much for me, too. I just think he's done a better job than she has. Frankly, the most talented contestant was voted off weeks ago.
And my comment, actually, was a joking reference to what Simon always says. Lighten up.
